So I got drunk at Christmas, no big deal, but in getting drunk my mouth started writing cheques my current body definitely can’t cash!
Competitive boys in the form of my brother and my sister-in-law’s brother equals a stupid bet involving us all running the Birmingham half marathon. My brother ran it last year, remember, and achieved a pretty good time to boot – annoying! Then we ran this Santa Jog together. Some how this seems like a good idea.
So I got myself down to Moti and had myself fitted for some new trainers. They’ve really helped with my knees and I’m experiencing a lot less pain when I run. They were really good at the shop and filmed my running to make sure my trainers were right for me. I’d recommend them. They are usually open late, but allow at least half an hour for a proper fitting. However, I am not experiencing less sweat or fatigue. I’m sleeping pretty well though and eating my Easter chocolate with less guilt.
I’ll be blogging my running progress here and via Twitter with the hashtag #JoRuns. They won’t be extensive updates, but I’d like to keep a record and if any of you are training then please let me know.

- Gym music: Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen has been having a lot of play on my iPod, also Starships by Nicki Minaj is a pretty good track to run to.
- Gym TV: I don’t watch Coronation Street and I couldn’t hear it because I was listen to my iPod, but the theme tonight seemed to be campervans, it also features a younger, poor man’s Chris Noth, Cindi for Easterenders, and a couple of Hollyoaks cast-offs. Thrilling stuff.
