I don’t know what I’m building and by that I mean that I don’t know what I’m working towards, in my career, with my personal life, with my hobbies. I don’t know my end goal and I’m kind of trying not to let that bother me. I just keep spending time clipping together various sections of a massive puzzle and I don’t know what the picture is yet.
Yeah, but what’s this go to do with the half marathon?
Well, in just under 2 months, I am running the Milton Keynes half marathon. I could pick anyone of the following reasons why I’m doing it and they would all be true:
- Lose weight
- Get fitter
- Raise money for charity
- In memory of my boyfriend’s uncle
- Because my boyfriend is running the full marathon on the same day and I want to support him
- Because I’m too proud to pull out now
But the real reason is this…
I want to finish something I’ve started. I’ve made a commitment and I want to see it through. Then I can say that I’ve done it, I’ve done a half marathon and that will be it.
Well, almost it. I’m running the Birmingham half later in the year, but then they’ll be a PB to beat.
Anyway, I think you can practice commitment, focus, will-power and organisation, and that is what I am going to do.
