This entry should be more visual, but because I can’t upload photos, it is not yet. Today I toured the Great Ocean Road which runs from Melbourne to Adelaide a long the coast. To be honest, as lovely a journey as it was, a lot of the scenery is like the coast of the Isle of Wight, with stacks and archs and all that coastal terminology you may have learned in GSCE Geography. Erosion is incredible! The highlight for me was probably the half hour we spent koala spotting. After learning about koalas, I am not quite sure what there purpose is in the circle of life. They eat food that is toxic to them, so most of their energy they expend trying to digest these toxins, which seems like a pretty major design flaw to me. They soend on average 20 hours a day sleeping and clymidia is rife amongst the koala population. Australians will have you believe that this is only since Europeans have been coming to Oz?! We also took a brief walk through a rainforest, but again, it’s pretty visual. Hopefully I’ll be able to upload images when I get to Canberra.
